The Board of Directors of Family Mediation Canada is thrilled to announce the appointment of Annalise Stenekes as Executive Director. The introduction of this role was a crucial element of our 4-year strategic plan. It is the direct result of the increased demand for high-quality family mediation services across the country and the continuing growth of FMC member services, including our gold-standard and internationally recognized certification process.
Annalise is joining our Administrative Officer, Sue Bedier, to further our mission of promoting awareness of mediation as an effective tool for navigating family-related conflict and supporting excellence in the mediation sector.
Annalise comes to FMC with a Master of Social Work degree and over 20 years of experience leading non-profit organizations that make an impact on the communities they serve. Early in her career, she completed the Certificate in Dispute Resolution at Atkinson College (York University) which has deeply influenced her both personally and professionally. She is eager to expand on this foundation by completing the Elder Mediation training and certification process.
Her most recent professional accomplishment was leading the development and operation of a 5-bed hospice residence where a team of 50+ staff and volunteers provide 24/7 compassionate end-of-life care in a comfortable, homelike setting. This required resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities to overcome multiple challenges and risks while working positively with a variety of stakeholders.
Annalise also has experience teaching and mentoring post-secondary students in the social work discipline and developing a variety of programs for a provincial member-based association.
Annalise lives in Orillia, Ontario and has two children, aged 14 and 10. When she’s not working or parenting, Annalise loves to spend time playing ukulele and guitar (or slowly improving on piano), singing in a choir, organizing community events, reading and getting active (swimming, hiking, biking, curling… to name a few!).
We are so pleased to welcome Annalise to the FMC family. Her skills, experience, enthusiasm and passion for excellence will be a huge asset as we move forward together.
